IRAQI TROOPS LIBERATE SHIRQAT FROM ISIL CONTROL

According to Military sources, Iraq’s military backed by air strikes from a U.S.-led coalition liberated Shirqat district from ISIL control which is considered as a stepping stone in the campaign to recapture Mosul from ISIL.

The sources added that The army, backed by local police and Sunni Muslim tribal fighters, earlier managed to control of the mayor’s office, the municipal building and the hospital before they advance further and liberate the whole district  from the terrorists.

Shirqat, on the Tigris River 100 km (60 miles) south of Mosul, has been surrounded by Iraqi troops and the popular mobilization forces.
