According to Kuwait News Agency, Belgium announced the allocation of 13.5 million euros of humanitarian aid in order to give vital support to vulnerable groups in Iraq, as well as to displaced persons and Syrian refugees.
The announcement was made by Belgian foreign minister Didier Reynder and minister of development Alexander De Croo in a joint statement.
Belgium also wants to contribute to the stabilization and reconstruction of areas previously held by ISIL.
“Our country does not only provide humanitarian aid, but also militarily active within the international coalition against the violent extremism of ISIL. Belgium supports all political efforts working towards a solution to the conflicts in the region, it added.
